As a Psychic Medium living on the doorstep to the Highlands & Island I have become well known with the haunted side of Scotland. I have been fortunate enough to join investigations all over Scotland and parts of England. I would say I grew up in haunted Scotland living one of the strongest ley lines. Ley lines are thought to be invisible lines of the earth’s energy which "align" sacred sites such as churches and burial grounds. The area on which a ley line crosses is said to be a powerful point and is said to cause paranormal activity, psychic phenomena and UFO sightings.

I got talking to a lady at my local church recently who asked me about things she had seen. It was then I realised not many people understand the spiritual side of the Paranormal Phenomena.

This lady was describing a scene from Ghostbusters I am sure! But I was not there to question her but only listen and understand that we are lucky enough to share in our experiences and learn from them. This lady was using the word Ghost a lot and wondered does she really understand the difference between ghost and different types of spirit entities? Was it just a lack of knowledge in terminology used?

So I have created using my own terminology a guide of different forms of spirit / ghosts that I have come across in my time working as a Spiritual and Paranormal Medium. I am not saying this is the only types but more the main energies encountered on an investigation. This will help people who have to write reports on investigations. Cutting back on the writing to describe each entity they have come across. Perhaps you have already encountered your own experience and do not know how to label it! Here you will find the words to describe the main experiences we all have today.

Simulacra

Human forms or likeness seen in natural formations (such as furniture, light, trees, stones etc). We look into knots in a tree we can sometimes find faces looking back to us this is where the name simulacra comes form as it looks similar.

Ghost/ Residual energies

I believe a ghost to be male, female, young or old and can appear from all stages of history. As they are like a photograph in time, a memory! The result of the energy left in the fabric of a place or building by people who may have worked, lived or even died there.

With out realising it we are all imbuing the fabric of our homes and work places with residual energies. In time to come mediums like myself will pick this up in the future and be able to relate to our lives as they are today.

Orbs

An orb is a sphere of energy which is said to be created by spirits. Most orbs tend to be picked up on film or digital media however they in some instances also seen by the human eye. Some times dust spots are mistaken on film so do be careful to check it out! Always check the movement and behaviour of your orb when recording on film

It is also said that an orb is the first manifestations of spirit.

Spectre

A spectre is an unusual appearing ghostly figure or image. That can fade away. It’s hard to determine whether it is an active spirit soul or just residual energy unless you are a medium.

Crises Spirit

Not many people under stand this term but it basically is when the spirit of a person detaches so they can contact a loved one as a warning.

This is what I believe my Grandmother did before her passing to make me know she was passing through the stages of death.

Trauma Spirit/ Earth bound

This is when a person has passed through the stages of death to quickly and the soul is left wondering what has happened. More commonly this stage is called limbo or restless spirits. This is when a Medium can be required to help the spirit realise that they have to move on. I have also heard this type of spirit as being earthbound because they are trapped to the earth plane.

Spirit

When I stand on platform I communicate with spirit. I believe spirit to be the soul of a person that lives forever and is eternal. Once we moved from our physical bodies and pass through stages of death our spirit or soul continues to live as we do today.

Spirit people live on a faster vibration as they are not weighed down with the physical side of live as we are. It is spirit people that connect with Medium and communicate through their clairvoyance (See), clairaudience (hear) and clairsentience (feel).

This is how I am able to pass messages across while on platform to loved ones from spirit to here in the psychical form. Some mediums use a spirit guide who acts as an intermediary, passing on the messages.

Spirit guides

a spirit guide is a spiritual being who is assigned to a particular person to assist them in their spiritual or life journey. It is said that each person can have more than one spirit guide. These guides can be highly evolved spirits of people who have lived before.

Poltergeists

Poltergeists are commonly mistaken as ghosts. Poltergeist Haunt their victims by making loud noise and throwing things, hence the name it’s German for “noisy ghost”.

There have been lots of documented case studies about poltergeist activity and yet each one is different but mainly has only one thing in common they all seem to use some one as a focus. A Focus is commonly a young person between the age of 11 and 16. Girls are most likely to attract poltergeist than boys. A focus is often someone who is feeling upset or stressed. This can be caused by many reasons for instance moving changing of parents or everyday pressure of being a teenager. It has been known for adults t become a focus for instance young mums! I often question if there a hormonal link? I have heard that the chemical realised in the brain is also an attraction for poltergeist. However I am a medium not a scientist.

I do not believe a poltergeist to be horrible but more looking for attention.

Could you imagine being in the spirit world and nothing to do all do?

Missing the attachment of the psychical world! Depending on your personality you would cry out for attention.
